Investor Associate – Intern

Location: US Remote

Position Overview

RedWind Renewables is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Investor Associate - Intern to support our early-stage utility-scale renewable energy (solar, wind and Battery Energy Storage) and Data Center project finance endeavors. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and be passionate about renewable energy, eager to learn, a self-starter, and can easily multi-task in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

This role will support the CEO, and Sr. Vice President of Investor Engagement with live transactions, including:

  • Sell-side
  • With strong emphasis on the support and creation of new investor relationships
  • Supporting valuation and strategic financial analysis, along with an emphasis on project-specific budgeting
  • CRM creation or tracking

In addition, the candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, land acquisition and development, and legal, to support RedWind Renewables exceeding its growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Canvass sources and support business development efforts for obtaining new investors / sponsors of RedWind Renewables Powered Land
  • Assist in preparing investor materials, pitch decks, and strategic presentations
  • Build and maintain detailed budgets for project financing, M&A with the support of the CEO and SVP
  • Support CEO and SVP’s day-to-day execution of deals, including due diligence, documentation review, and coordination with external advisors
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic planning
  • Conduct valuation and sensitivity analyses to support transaction decisions
  • Work closely with the CEO on special projects

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor of science or master’s degree program in accounting, engineering, finance, law, environmental science, renewable energy, or related field.
  • Prior IPP experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting live transactions and deal execution
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with a coachable mindset
  • Strong financial modeling skills and comfort with complex project finance structures, preferred
  • Accounting, finance, or technical degree in progress ideally in 2nd year of course work completion
  • GPA 3.3 or higher

Business Development Lead - Intern

Location: US Remote / Local to MN Preferred

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intern- Business Development Lead | GIS to support our early-stage utility-scale renewable energy (solar, wind and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)) and Data Center development endeavors. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external parties. This role is instrumental in identifying viable project sites by helping support RWR team by analyzing grid capacity, environmental factors, and land usability using advanced GIS tools and third-party data platforms. The position also supports the broader RWR team on investor document management and plays a role in supporting our CEO, Sr. Vice President of Investor Relations, VP of Business Development, Land Agents and working closely with the GIS Lead. This is a remote role with potential travel opportunities for onsite visits for team outings, industry events and team strategy and training days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the GIS Lead and team analyze electrical capacity and land suitability to identify and qualify new renewable energy project leads and existing opportunities using GIS services and third-party databases.
  • Research and compile landowner contact information to support outreach effort of the VP of Business Development, local partners and Land Agents.
  • Maintain and organize project files and documentation using Dropbox and manage investor-facing materials.
  • Create and update contact cards for new leads and key stakeholders, supporting the CEO and executive team.
  • Perform policy research related to national and local solar development, grid interconnection, and permitting.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with internal teams and external investors, ensuring alignment across remote workflows.
  • Support site selection and visit coordination, occasionally traveling to meet landowners and evaluate land conditions in person.
  • Demonstrate initiative in solving problems and contribute ideas improving project prospecting and development workflows.

Skills Required

  • Strong analytical and GIS-based site analysis skills
  • Proficiency in Google Earth Pro, Microsoft Office 365, Dropbox, Zoom, and other GIS based software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks independently in a remote setting
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving ability, especially in ambiguous or data-limited situations
  • Comfortable conducting online research related to policy, energy markets, and permitting
  • Organizational skills with strong attention to detail in managing digital files and investor documents
  • Interest in the renewable energy sector and a passion for building a clean energy future

Education & Experience

  • Must be midway through an undergraduate program or have a master's degree or higher (Bachelor’s in Data Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, GIS, Renewable Energy, or related field required)
  • Prior experience in renewables energy development, GIS, or utility infrastructure analysis is preferred but not required
  • Early-Stage Utility Scale Energy development experience preferred or mid-to late-stage energy development experience a plus
